Rice Bowl Offering
On the last Sunday of each month during the children's time, the children circulate through the congregation, collecting pocket change from those willing to give. These funds are typically designated for a local organization that helps children in need of a variety of services.
The Rice Bowl Offering for October is designated for The Carousel Center in Wilmington. The Carousel Center is a comprehensive care facility that provides services to meet the physical, emotional and psychological needs of children who have suffered physical or sexual abuse. These services include child therapy and medical exams for children who experienced abuse, as well as counseling for other family members involved.

Federal Point Help Center
We collect food on a continual basis for the Federal Point Help Center. The Federal Point Help Center is our local food pantry/assistance ministry that helps Pleasure Island residents in need of food, clothing, gas, help with utility bills, rent and anything else it can afford to help with. Each month their needs list changes and we collect different items based on their needs. The needs for September are: 2lb bags of rice, macaroni & cheese, pasta sauce, canned fish, canned meat and any other packaged or canned food items or toiletries are greatly appreciated. As you bring in your gifts of food to place them in the baskets near the altar, you are invited to say a prayer for those who will receive your gift! Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Sunday School Ministry
Our Sunday School ministry will be starting up on Sunday, September 9 for both children and adults! For the Children: It will begin with a fun kickoff event during our normal Sunday school time following the children's time during our 10am worship service! Then for the first part of the year, we will be learning about brave people of the Old Testament, such as Joseph, Daniel, Joshua, Jonah and Esther! We will be learning through stories, crafts, songs and games! For the Adults: We will begin the year with a DVD study on the Book of Revelation entitled: "Is This The Time? Interpreting the Mystery of Revelation"! It is a 7 week study which includes a 12-13 minute video segment for each session. The Book of Revelation can be a difficult book to read and to digest as well as to discern how we can understand it in our world today. For that reason, I think many people avoid reading it! "Is This The Time" is a great study that helps us understand what it meant for the early readers of the book, what it meant for readers throughout history, as well as what it can mean for us today. It is an easy to understand study and I am looking forward to some fun, meaningful discussion that will come out of our time together! If you have ever read Revelation and/or have had questions about it...this will be a great study for you! "Our adult Sunday school time begins at 9am on Sunday morning! We hope you will join us!"
